Hermeticism

Everything is dual

Reality is paradoxical.

by Stephanie Leung

IV. The Principle of Polarity

“Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half‐truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled.”

Hermetic Principles (The Kybalion)

Reality is paradoxical

For every concept, there is a duality–both a positive and negative extreme. And yet, both extremes embody the same idea, and when understood as a union, become whole in its truth.

Without this understanding, there is duality and only duality.

When we reconcile this dual nature, we find the unity in the picture. Understand that everything contains both light and dark, positive and negative, good and bad.

When we can see both ends, we are getting closer to the truth.

Without this unity, we are confronted with half-truths.

All things contain this dual nature. All things can be seen in extreme opposites. And yet, they can only be seen as truth when viewed through all perspectives.

To view just one side is to limit our awareness of reality. We must embrace the totality of life, to embody our multidimensional perspective on all things.

It is possible, and it is the only thing that is true.

There is no such thing as a weakness

All extremes are illusions.

This is why your greatest weakness is your greatest strength.

Your worst fears are your treasures.

Your enemies are your greatest allies.

Understand this, and there will be little in this world that will frighten you.

You have the power to turn any hardship into an opportunity, any limitation into a privilege. Every illness contains a bridge to its antidote.

This is universal law.
